Well, I am not sure I am totally sold on one or the other. I really like the idea of all my bookmarks being on the web so that I can access them anywhere.....and when the IS guy's comes and updates my computer and forget to save my bookmarks, I would have a back-up. :)
I tried starting with delicious and was pretty sure I had an account with them before. Apparently, I did but have no idea as to what my log-in or password was. So, I tried logging in with my Google account, which it said was an option...well I never had success with that option either. So I created a new account.
With Diigo I was creating a new account. Getting started was easy but I did have some trouble. I would create a bookmark before I set-up a list and then I would run into problems trying to add it into the list. I guess I kind of started off backwards.
I know it sounds old school but I really do like clicking on Favorites and just getting a quick list of bookmarks in folders. I like the look of just a clean list. Neither one of these really like that. They are a little more cluttered than I like. However, if I had too choose I think I like Diigo a little better. I do plan on adding more bookmarks, especially the ones I don't want to loose but use infrequently.
I definitely like Diigo better. I can't figure out what bothers me about it, though, but I think it just seems to be so large and takes up so much space. I think I'd like it better if more fit onto the computer screen.
ReplyDeleteI can see what you mean when you say you like just seeing drop down list off of your internet provider. I too, have done that up until this point, but now I am thinking that it may be safer to have it on diigo, just incase something were to happen to my computer. It is kind of like having a back up for your flash drive... convienent, but takes some time to get used to.
ReplyDeleteThere was a tutorial on Delicious that showed ho to tag that is some what like using your favorites, but for overall tools, I like Diigo better.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to be able to do a different sort and I was not able to do that, it always gave the ones added most recently first and then you have to go through the pages to find what you are looking for, whereas on my browser I can change the sort. The advantage to these site is the social aspect and sharing and learning from one another, so it has more advantages than private bookmarking.
ReplyDelete"and when the IS guy's comes and updates my computer and forget to save my bookmarks, I would have a back-up. :)"
ReplyDeleteSee, that would be me. I would get them to do something and forget to backup my stuff and be all left in the dark.
Oh Michelle, I show you two cool things and you're just not buying them :) Yes, the whole drop down thing is nice BUT, I installed the plug-ins for my browser and it works just like a regular browser bookmarker. PLUS, them IS folks can't get to your bookmarks :)
